Bake sale raises dough for foodbank

Staff and learners have put their baking talents into action to raise money for our local foodbank.

The Great Big College Bake took place across all fours of our campuses and raised a massive £526.53 for Gateshead Foodbank, our chosen charity for 2023/24.

Organised by our Charity Champions with support from our Project Choice and sport students, the big bake stalls were full of homemade cakes, brownie, muffins and sausage rolls.

The money raised will be donated to Gateshead Foodbank which continues to experience increasing numbers of people needing support.

In the first two months of 2024 they gave out emergency food parcels to 1,240 people across Gateshead - 852 adults and 388 children.

We are continuing to collect food donations at all of our campus reception points and we deliver those to the warehouse as the donation boxes fill up.

We’re also collecting Easter eggs to pass to the foodbank ready for them to hand-out in the week leading up to Easter.
