This course covers a wide range of advanced hairdressing skills which will help you on your way to becoming more highly skilled. You will follow an innovative programme of challenging and exciting practical skills and knowledge based theory, all delivered by our professional salon team in our commercial salon, Botanica. The course will also include sessions on Indian Head Massage and Business awareness to help your CV to shine and to give you a head start in your career.
On this course you will study:
- Working with colleagues in hairdressing related industries
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Cutting techniques
- Advanced colour correction
- Creative long hair and bridal styling
- Creative hair extensions
You will be continually and formally assessed throughout this course to make sure you are developing the skills you need to be successful.
Theory assessments will be carried out via assignments and formal testing and practical assessments will be carried out in our commercial salon Botanica, on paying clients or fellow students.
All assessments will be measured against the nationally recognised standards of the awarding body. You may also be asked to carry out case studies and research work at home.
This course is delivered by our friendly, highly skilled and experienced staff. Their teaching styles are adpated to suit your needs, making your learning experience personal and as enjoyable as possible. Guest speakers from professional salons and brands are regular visitors to Botanica, to ensure the course content is up to date with emerging trends and techniques.
Our brilliant links with professional salons allow us to source you extra training with our partners to help you kick start your career.
All practical sessions are taught in our commercial
salon, Botanica, which is equipped with two hair salons, a beauty suite,
nail bar, barbering facility and make-up room, similar to any top end
high street salon. It is open to the public meaning you'll work alongside our
professional team to cut and style paying clients. You'll be invited
to buy a salon uniform which must be worn at all times. We'll let you
know the cost of this when you enrol.

- We're a part of the Green Salon Collective, a company that offer Zero-to-Landfill Salon Recycling Solutions for Hairdressers.
- Our hair, foils and metal tubes are recycled.
- We use eco-heads, shower heads that reduce water use by around 70%.
- Our beauty supplier is Eve Taylor and for every product we buy, they plant a tree.
- We don’t print our learning portfolios, they’re all online.
- We use the Wella Hero platform, which helps the students gain knowledge on all aspects education in the hair industry including sustainable salon operations.

On completion of this course, you will be a fully qualified Hairdresser ready to step into industry.
A Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, pass a skills test and an interview with our team.
You will need to buy a uniform to wear on this course.
We'll let you know the price of this when you enrol.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in bespoke training with brands such as Wella and Milk Shake, which may cost extra.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
