This level 2 award in Manual Metal Arc (MMA) has been specifically designed to give introductry skills to those interested in starting a career in the welding and engineering sector.
You'll learn via a blend of theory and practical based sessions with a
large proportion of the delivery taking place in the welding workshops to
develop your practical skills.
Course content includes:
Throughout the course you will produce work that will be assessed against the City and Guilds awarding body standards.
The final assessment will test your knowledge of the units covered and will include a practical assessment.
We will support you throughout the course with regular assessment tasks and feedback to help you be as prepared as possible.
We are a friendly, highly motivated and positive teaching and team who will work with you throughout the course to help you to build the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to be successful and to pass the assessments.

Our welding and engineering workshops are based at the Skills Academy for Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics and include 16 fully equipped welding stations and industry standard workshops.
This level 1 qualification is designed to provide you with an introduction into MMA welding processes and techniques, allowing you to establish a solid foundation in welding practices.
Upon completion of this course you can progress onto our level 2 award in MMA welding.
You will also need to buy suitable safety footwear, fire retardant overalls and a welding cap.
The cost of these will be in addtion to the cost of the course.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
