Strengthening Our Support for Care-Experienced Young People

July 30, 2026

We’re proud to have become a signatory of the Care Leaver Covenant, a national initiative that brings together organisations committed to creating opportunities for care-experienced young people and supporting their aspirations.

By signing the Covenant, we’re strengthening our commitment to care-experienced young people, ensuring they have access to the networks, experiences and connections that can help them thrive in education, employment and life.

We recognise that young people leaving care may not always have the same access to opportunities as their peers. The Care Leaver Covenant helps connect care-experienced young people with organisations that can open doors, broaden horizons and help them achieve their goals.

Nadine Hudspeth said:

“At Gateshead College, we believe in the potential of every individual and that everyone should have the chance to succeed. Becoming a signatory of the Care Leaver Covenant reflects our commitment to ensuring care-experienced young people can access the experiences, connections and pathways that help them achieve their ambitions and shape the future they want for themselves.”

Joining the Care Leaver Covenant reflects our values and our commitment to creating a college where every learner feels they belong and can pursue their ambitions with confidence.
