Care Experienced Students.

We have dedicated support for students who are in, or have ever been in care (known as care experienced or care leavers.)

We understand that your experiences of being in care may create some extra barriers for you and we want you to know that you won’t face these alone.

Our specialist team offer wrap-around support which is available to you throughout your time at college and as you prepare to leave.

This support includes:

  • A dedicated support worker who will:
    • Work with your care team
    • Attend external meetings and manage Personal Education Plans (PEPs)
    • Advocate for you and support your progress
  • 1 to 1 support sessions for your wellbeing, resilience and confidence.
  • 1 to 1 careers guidance to help you plan your next steps after college.
  • Financial support
    • Up to £1,200 per year through the Higher Paid Bursary Scheme for 16–19 year-olds.
    • £3,000 apprenticeship bursary for eligible Care Experienced and Care Leaver apprentices.
