Staff and students have been celebrating the college’s cultural diversity as part of One World Week: an annual event which showcases the array of cultures across the college’s four campuses.
Staff and students worked together to deliver a packed schedule of activities including student performances, DJ sessions, art and design pop-up shops, food from across the world, Indian head massages and hair braiding.
Interactive workshops including Celtic tattoo design and Latin dancing brought out the creative flair in staff and students, with members of the exec team contemplating a future on strictly come dancing! A collaboration between TV and film and English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students showed the range of languages spoken at the college. Take a look at their work here.
Tom Bradley, Head of Department for Visual and Performing Arts said: “One World Week gives us the opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Gateshead College such a vibrant place to work and study. Sharing cultural traditions is a great way for us to promote inclusivity and develop an appreciation of the variety of countries and cultures we represent.”
