Green Gateshead is our promise to take action for people and planet.

For us sustainability is about more than the environment and we are committed to working to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These global goals aim to achieve a better, fairer and more sustainable future for everyone.

We’re leading by example – working hard to educate ourselves, to reduce our impact on the environment, promote positive action throughout our college and give our learners the skills they need to thrive in a green economy and to make their communities better.

Our Sustainability Strategy takes account of feedback from our learners, staff and partners and reflects our commitment to integrating sustainability into all aspects of college life, from governance and operations to teaching and community engagement with the ambition of achieving Net Zero by 2050.

Our goal is:

To be a resilient organisation which takes positive action to address climate change creating a better environment for our learners, our people and future generations.

We’ll do this by:

• Taking a college-wide approach to tackle climate change. We will set targets, implement actions and encourage behaviours which reduce our carbon footprint and instil working  practices which reduce waste, save energy and promote environmental sustainability.
• Preparing our learners for a world impacted by climate change providing them with the skills, knowledge and experiences so that they can actively engage in promoting sustainability and secure jobs in the green economy.
