Your voice matters and we want you to be heard.
Our Student Rep Scheme is all about making sure your voice is heard and your interests are taken seriously. Open to everyone, it helps students, teachers, college management and Governors work together effectively, so everyone’s needs are considered.
Student Governors are voted for by other students and are part of the Board of Governors.
It’s a great chance to see how the college runs and make a real impact. Plus, you’ll work with our leaders and build awesome skills like speaking up in meetings, gaining confidence and working as a team. It’s also a great thing to add to your CV to help you stand out to employers.
There are two student governor opportunities, depending on your age; one to become the 16-18 student governor and one to become the 19+ student governor.
The Gateshead College Students’ Union is here to support you and look out for your interests. It helps keep the conversation going between students, the college and outside groups.
Plus, it offers plenty of chances to meet new people, try fun activities and get more involved in college life.
All students aged 16+ are automatically members of the Students’ Union; including those on employer led courses, mature, part time or short course students, so everyone benefits from its services and events.
