Students studying automotive had the opportunity to connect with employers from across the North East’s automotive sector at our recent Automotive Careers and Skills Day.
Designed to bring industry and education together, the event gave students the chance to explore the wide range of careers available within the automotive industry, learn more about job and apprenticeship opportunities and hear directly from employers about the skills they look for in future recruits.
Throughout the day, students met with employers, took part in hands-on demonstrations and explored the latest developments across the sector.
For many, the event offered an early opportunity to explore where their studies could take them and gain a better understanding of the different roles available within the industry.
It was particularly encouraging to see students engaging confidently with employers, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine enthusiasm for their future careers, despite being only a few weeks into the academic year.
As well as gaining industry insights, students were able to learn more about the opportunities available after college, including apprenticeships, training and employment within the automotive sector.
Matty from Mobile Motorworks said: “It’s been a really positive day. The students have been engaged, enthusiastic and keen to learn more about the opportunities available within the automotive industry. They’ve asked thoughtful questions and shown a genuine interest in exploring where a career in the sector could take them.”
Events like the Automotive Careers and Skills Day give students valuable opportunities to learn from industry professionals, make meaningful connections and gain a clearer understanding of career pathways within their chosen sector.
