We are celebrating the continued success of our football academy students after several players featured for Gateshead FC during the 2025/26 season.
At the end of the season, academy right-back Harry Gettins reached a major milestone in his development by making his full debut for the Gateshead FC first team, starting their league fixture against Altrincham. It marks a significant step for the young defender, who has progressed through our football pathway and now has the opportunity to test himself at senior level.
The same fixture also saw Jake Lish make his first-team bow, coming on as a substitute to secure his debut appearance. Comfortable both in midfield and further forward, Jake’s introduction highlights the strength and depth of talent emerging from the College’s programme.
Both players are part of a wider group of Gateshead College football academy students who have been involved with the first-team squad this season. Alongside Harry and Jake, Robert Leach (CM), Adam Doyle (CM), Gildo da Silva (Winger), Adam Martin (GK) and Logan Douglas (GK) have all trained with and represented Gateshead FC, gaining valuable experience in a professional environment.
This collaboration provides student-athletes with a clear progression route into senior football, allowing them to balance their studies with high-level competition and exposure to the professional game.
The achievements of Harry, Jake and their teammates demonstrate the impact of Gateshead College’s football academy in developing not only talented players, but well-rounded individuals ready to take the next step in their careers.
Well done to all of our academy players, we can’t to see how you get on next season.
