Passivhaus Training

This 4-day course is for anyone with an interest in construction, from tradespeople and site supervisors to housing and property professionals, who want to build their knowledge of low-energy buildings, high-performance construction methods and sustainability in the built environment.

Course content includes:

• Passivhaus principles, including fabric performance, airtightness, insulation, thermal bridges, ventilation and heat loss reduction.
• Why design quality, detailing and installation quality matter in high-performance buildings.
• Links between Passivhaus, energy efficiency, occupant comfort, carbon reduction and construction quality.
• How poor workmanship can create performance gaps in low-energy buildings.

Session 1 (3 hours):

• Introduction to Building to Perform

Session 2 (3 hours):

• Introduction to the Passivhaus standard & certification overview
• What it means for design
• What it means for construction
• Insulation & thermal bridges

Session 3 (3 hours):

• Insulation in practice
• Windows & installation approaches
• Airtightness theory

Session 4 (3 hours):

• Airtightness in practice (planning & sequencing)
• Building services integration

Plus you’ll get Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson exam sessions.  

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to:

• Understand the core principles behind Passivhaus and ultra-low-energy buildings.
• Recognise the importance of workmanship, sequencing and quality control in sustainable construction.
• Build awareness that can support progression into construction, retrofit, site supervision or energy efficiency roles.
• Help employers increase sustainability awareness across construction teams.
