Installation & Maintenance of Small Solar Photovoltaic Systems


This 4-day course is designed for qualified electricians, electrical contractors, property maintenance professionals and construction employers looking to develop their skills and expertise in solar PV installation and maintenance.

 

Course content includes:

  • Principles of solar PV technology, system components, system design considerations and installation requirements.
  • Electrical safety, isolation, protection, wiring, inverter connection and commissioning processes.
  • Maintenance, fault awareness, performance considerations and customer handover.
  • How solar PV supports domestic and commercial energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to:

  • Install and maintain small-scale solar PV systems within the limits of competence and qualification requirements.
  • Support employers to respond to demand for renewable energy installation and maintenance.
  • Broaden existing electrical skills into green energy and retrofit-related work.
  • Progress into further renewables, retrofit, EV charging or building services training.

Please Note: The Solar PV qualification focuses on the electrical design, installation, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems. It does not include:

  • Practical installation on rooftops
  • Roof access or structural modifications

  • Course Fee: £900 + VAT per person
  • Includes training, assessment, and certification
  • Self-employed candidates or companies with fewer than 250 employees may qualify for funding to get this course for free
  • Booking requires a refundable £100 deposit

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.

If you don’t qualify for funding help and have to pay for course, you could pay a 25% deposit and four consecutive monthly standing order payments for the balance. The course fee must be over £100 to qualify.
