This course is perfect for anyone looking to start a career in the growing green economy, including roles in construction, housing, property maintenance, retrofit support and energy advice. If you already work in one of these industries, this course will help you develop a practical understanding of energy efficiency improvements and sustainable practices in domestic settings.

Course content includes:

How homes use and lose energy, including heating, insulation, ventilation, glazing and behaviour.
Practical domestic energy efficiency measures and how they contribute to lower costs, comfort and carbon reduction.
Sustainability principles, whole-house thinking and customer advice.
Links to retrofit, low-carbon heating, solar PV, EV charging and wider green construction activity.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to:

Understand common domestic energy efficiency measures and sustainability principles.
Support customers, residents or employers with basic energy efficiency awareness and signposting.
Progress into retrofit, construction, housing, energy advice or green skills courses.
Add value to employers working in housing, repairs, maintenance, construction or community energy support.

Finance And Funding

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.

If you don’t qualify for funding help and have to pay for course, you could pay a 25% deposit and four consecutive monthly standing order payments for the balance. The course fee must be over £100 to qualify.
