At Botanica, you’ll benefit from hands-on training in a real-world salon environment, gaining practical experience and insight from our expert team of beauty professionals.

Our tailored curriculum focuses on both technical proficiency and soft skills development, ensuring you’re well-rounded and prepared to deliver exceptional services to clients.

Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll learn in our beauty course:

Facial Skin Therapy – Dive into the art of facial skin therapy, learning advanced techniques to rejuvenate and enhance the skin’s natural beauty.

Eye Treatments – Delve into eye treatments, including lash extensions, tinting, and eyebrow shaping, to create stunning eye transformations that captivate and allure.

Waxing Techniques – Learn both warm waxing and hot waxing techniques, mastering the art of hair removal with precision and care.

Tanning – Discover the techniques behind flawless tanning, including both spray tanning and manual tanning. Learn how to prepare the skin, apply tanning products evenly, and deliver safe, natural-looking results across a variety of skin types.

Nail Art – Develop your creative flair with nail art, applying a range of techniques such as freehand painting, dotting, marbling, stamping, and embellishment. Enhance your designs using colour theory and nail trends to create eye-catching looks for every occasion.

Manicure and Pedicure – Perfect your manicure and pedicure skills, offering clients pampering treatments that leave hands and feet looking and feeling fabulous.

Gel Nail Application – Master the techniques of gel nail application, creating durable and beautiful nail enhancements that stand out.

In addition to technical training, you’ll also develop essential customer service skills, including:

Product and Service Promotion – Learn effective strategies for promoting products and services, enhancing client satisfaction and boosting salon sales.

Workplace Effectiveness – Gain insights into maximising productivity and efficiency in the workplace, ensuring smooth salon operations.

Health and Safety Protocols – Prioritise client and staff safety with comprehensive training on health and safety practices in the salon environment.

Reception Management – Acquire essential reception management skills, ensuring seamless client bookings, inquiries, and salon administration.

Effective Communication – Enhance your communication skills, building strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike.

Team Collaboration – Learn the importance of teamwork and collaboration in the beauty industry, fostering a supportive and cohesive salon environment.

You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in extra training to add to your skillset in particular areas such as Caflon Ear Piercing or lash extensions with Lash Lift and brow lamination.

There may be a small charge for this extra training.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed throughout the course to check that you are developing the skills and knowledge you need to pass the course.

There will be theoretical written assignments and testing as well as practical assessments carried out in our commercial salon Botanica. You may also be asked to do work at home.

All assessments will be against the nationally recognised standards set by the awarding body, City and Guilds.

Our highly skilled and friendly teaching team will support you throughout the course.

We adapt our teaching style to suit all our students, meaning your experience is personal to you and shaped around your needs to make it as enjoyable as possible.

Our course content is heavily influenced by the beauty industry and the professional brands we work with including Eve Taylor, Dermalogica, St Tropez and Sleek Make-up.

This ensures your content is relevant and up to date and you gain the product knowledge and skills today’s employers expect. 

All practical sessions will take place in our industry standard commercial salon, Botanica. Equipped with the latest kit and resources, the salon is a bright and modern space, reflecting that of any high end professioanl salon that you’d find on the high street.

You will be invited to buy a uniform which must be work for all sessions on the course. We’ll let you know the price of the uniform when you enrol.

  • We’re a part of the Green Salon Collective, a company that offer Zero-to-Landfill Salon Recycling Solutions for Hairdressers.
  • Our hair, foils and metal tubes are recycled.
  • We use eco-heads, shower heads that reduce water use by around 70%.
  • Our beauty supplier is Eve Taylor and for every product we buy, they plant a tree.
  • We don’t print our learning portfolios, they’re all online.
  • We use the Wella Hero platform, which helps the students gain knowledge on all aspects education in the hair industry including sustainable salon operations.

Once you complete this course, you can progress or continue in a professional role in the beauty sector.

Or you can progress onto one of our Level 3 courses in Nail Technology, Media Make-Up, Beauty or Hairdressing.

4 GCSE grades 4-9 or equivalent. ESOL learners must have achieved a Level 2 in ESOL

You will be invited to buy a branded professional uniform, which must be worn during all training sessions and a beauty kit. We will let you know the prices of the uniform and kit when you enrol.

There will be an additional cost of any extra triaining you choose to do such as Lash Extensions, Caflon Ear Piercing or LashLift.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.

If you don’t qualify for funding help and have to pay for course, you could pay a 25% deposit and four consecutive monthly standing order payments for the balance. The course fee must be over £100 to qualify.

If this is a Level 3 qualification and you may qualify for free course fees and there may be grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances. If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 or over you can pay the fee in full upfront and receive a 10% discount. Or you can apply for an Adult Advanced Learner Loan, a low interest loan with no upfront fees that you pay back in installments once you’re earning.
