Staff and students have been honoured during a day of celebrations which recognised their outstanding achievements over the past academic year.

For the first time in three years, staff and students were able to come together to celebrate those recognised as having ‘the edge’. There was a full day and evening of celebrations to recognise the best of the best; those students and staff who stood out for their hard work and determination, always going the extra mile, innovating, always supporting others and achieving fantastic results.

A total of 15 staff received Edge Awards with members of the Executive Team touring the campuses and surprising those outstanding colleagues with their awards. The award winning staff will all get together later in the year for a celebratory dinner in the student run fine-dining restaurant, Enfields Kitchen.

The celebrations then continued into the evening, with an awards ceremony dedicated to student Edge Award winners. A total of 24 students, across all curriculum areas of the college were recognised for a range of achievements including academic excellence, dedication to studies, overcoming adversity and outstanding sporting ability.

The event was hosted by the college’s very own Ant and Dec, Nadine Hudspeth and Ivan Jepson (members of the Exec Team by day) and began with a brilliant performance from Jordan Love and Sophie Gordon; two music students who serenaded guests during a drinks reception. This marvellous introduction to the evening was followed by a delicious three course meal, prepared and served by the college’s hospitality and catering students. David Alexander, Principal and Chief Executive at the college said: said: “As this is the first awards ceremony we’ve been able to host in person for 3 years now, being able to get together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students feels like more of a privilege than ever.

“It is a huge achievement to be chosen as the best of the best out of the thousands of students who study with us. The passion and commitment of both the staff and students really is extraordinary. I am incredibly proud of the students who were commended and extremely grateful to my team here at the college for all that they do to give our students the high quality education and real world skills that make them work-ready when they leave us.

“Everyone who received an award should be proud of their achievements and I congratulate them all for their commitment and dedication.”
