A Gateshead College apprentice is ending 2021 by celebrating two major milestones.

Lucy Pollock has not only achieved the highest mark of any apprentice on her programme, she’s also secured a permanent role at the college.

The 21 year-old achieved a distinction with a 97% grading in her Business Administrator Apprenticeship end point assessment and has also been successful in securing a new role within the college working for the student engagement and recruitment team.

Lucy’s new role as Student Recruitment and Engagment Officer will see her using her first-hand knowledge and experience as an apprentice to support other young people as they begin their apprenticeship programmes.

She said: “I’m so excited to be starting my new role at the college and feel this is the perfect place for me. My training has been such a positive experience and I couldn‘t have done it without the amazing support of my mentor and trainer.

“In my new role, I’ll be working with employers and apprentices and supporting students to ensure we continue to offer the best possible learning experience.”

Lucy’s Trainer Assessor at the college Olivia Briggs, said: “Lucy has not only grown as a professional but also as an individual who can overcome challenges and personally develop to achieve her potential. I’ve been able to see her confidence grow throughout her apprenticeship programme and I couldn’t be prouder of what she’s achieved. Well done Lucy!”
