Over a hundred students were celebrated at a graduation event held at Baltic Campus for their successful completion of the Skills Bootcamp in Digital training programmes.
The event recognised the achievements of graduates who completed courses in AI and Machine Learning, Cybersecurity and Networking, Cloud Solutions and Cyber Essentials, Data Analytics, Software Development and Testing, and UX/UI and VFX.
Graduates were joined by industry guests Christopher Simpson from Karma Computing and Joe Swan from Syntessera, who shared their insights and experiences of working in the tech sector and gave some top tips on what recruiters in the industry are looking for.
Kathryn Davies, a graduate of the UX/UI Skills Bootcamp, said: “It’s been a great opportunity to learn new skills and meet some interesting people. I’m looking forward to using the skills I’ve learnt in my current role and plan to keep exploring and learning more about UX/UI.”
The graduation took place in Digital Up North, a community space dedicated to learning how tech works which is based at Baltic Campus.
Phil O’Neil, Head of Digital Technologies and Games, said: “All of the graduates today have achieved something to be truly proud of. Skills Bootcamps are demanding programmes which equip you with job-ready skills and knowledge in a remarkably short time. I wish all our graduates the very best in their next steps.”
Skills Bootcamps are free for eligible adult learners aged 19 and over who are not participating through their employer. Lasting from 8 weeks up to a maximum of 16 weeks, they’re funded through the North East Combined Authority and the Department for Education.
