Our music students had some very special guests visit them last month as part of our ongoing partnership with Sunday for Sammy.
North East artist L Devine and music producer Jozz popped in to our Baltic Campus to watch our class bands perform and answer our students’ questions about working in the music industry.
They were also joined by local legend and Sunday for Sammy founder Ray Ludlow and Paul Irwin, who were able to give the students advice and support to receive grants from the Sunday for Sammy team.
L Devine said “It’s been amazing coming in today! We watched the students perform in their ensembles, and it was really cool to see some great classic rock interpretations. I was blown away by their confidence.”
When asked for advice in starting their careers Jozz said “You’ve got to get out there and start doing it. Don’t listen to too many voices, focus on figuring out who you are as a creative and excel at that. And above all, work hard. It sounds basic, but keeping that mindset is everything.”
Experiences like this give our students invaluable insight into the industry and the chance to learn from professionals who’ve been there and done it.
