Our students joined forces with the Newcastle Eagles to help deliver a fantastic experience at their recent WBBL home game.
It was a brilliant night for the Eagles as they faced Manchester Women, with Gateshead College students playing an integral role in making the event run smoothly.
Learners from across the college came together to ensure the night was a success. Catering students served food in the VIP area, music students performed live vocals, dance students delivered a show‑stopping half‑time performance and entertained the crowd during timeouts, and business students supported merchandise sales and the overall organisation of the event.
Our media students also conducted and filmed interviews with players and coaches which are available on the Eagles website.
This is the third year where our students have done a takeover event at Newcastle Eagles and each time they gain valuable work experience.
They had the opportunity to take part in real, hands‑on event management within an authentic work environment, complete with the challenges and pressures that come with it, and they made us incredibly proud.
We are proud to work with supportive businesses such as the Eagles to give students meaningful experiences beyond the classroom, helping them build the skills and confidence they need for both their future careers and everyday life, well beyond their formal qualification.
