Our students’ dedication and hard work have been celebrated at the annual Student Edge Awards.
A total of 23 students, across all curriculum areas of the college received awards for a range of achievements including academic excellence, dedication to studies, overcoming adversity and outstanding sporting ability.
This year’s awards also featured two new award categories, Learner Voice which recognises a student who has made a significant impact as a Course Rep and Student of the Year celebrates one exceptional student who has gone above and beyond to make a significant impact on life at Gateshead College.
The event was hosted by the college’s very own Ant and Dec, Nadine Hudspeth and Ivan Jepson (members of the Exec Team by day) and began with a brilliant performance from Eve one of our music students who serenaded guests during a drinks reception.
This was followed by a delicious three course meal, prepared and served by our hospitality and catering students.
David Alexander, Principal and Chief Executive at the college said: said: “Everyone who received an award should be very proud and I congratulate them all for their achievements.
“This year’s awards are especially meaningful, as we’re celebrating a special anniversary marking 80 years since we became Gateshead Technical College. For eight decades, we’ve been supporting our learners, making a real and ongoing difference to people’s lives and being at the heart of our community and last nights awards are a perfect reflection of that legacy.”
