Our Project Choice football team recently visited Manchester United’s training ground to take part in the second annual CPC Inclusion Cup.
The team travelled to Manchester in their new kit, ready to take on colleges from across the country. The top teams will progress to St George’s Park in April to play in the National Tournament.
The team put in a fantastic performance and secured their place at St George’s Park. They also enjoyed a tour of Old Trafford before heading home.
We asked our learners what they thought of the day. Alexander said, “It was one of the best days of my life. We showed solid teamwork and a great performance, and I absolutely loved going to Old Trafford. We even sang all the way back to Gateshead!” Murray is already looking ahead. He said, “I loved scoring goals for the college and working as a team. This has now given us the confidence to go and play at St George’s Park.”
John Chambers, Head of High Needs Learners and football coach, said, “It was an absolute privilege to be able to take the team on what was an amazing experience for all. The team didn’t just love the day, they constantly acknowledged how lucky they were and repeatedly said it was the best day of their lives.
“From doing so well in the tournament to singing songs all the way home on the bus, they certainly made the most of it, and we are looking forward to the National Finals at St George’s Park.”
A huge well done to the team. We are really proud of you and can’t wait to cheer you on at St George’s Park.
And also thanks to @CharlieshotsNE for travelling with the team and taking some amazing photos.
