Gateshead Football Club has signed our student, Carter Milmore on a one-year professional contract.
Carter, who has been studying a Level 3 Sports Massage course, becomes a full-time member of Alun Armstrong’s squad after making his first-team debut in November 2024, coming on as a substitute in a 5-0 win away to Maidenhead United in the National League, before being included in the match day squad for a further three league fixtures.
The 19-year-old also made two appearances in the National League Cup for The Heed’s senior side during the 2024/25 season, alongside captaining the club’s under-19 side under Armstrong’s tutelage.
Commenting on his signing, Carter said: “Alun (Armstrong) the coach rang me a few days after he got the job, so it was good to get that call. I really enjoyed playing under him last year with the men’s academy – I know what he’s about and he knows my attributes.”
Gateshead FC Academy is run in partnership with Gateshead College to develop young players into the professional game, with Milmore joining fellow former Gateshead FC Men’s Academy players Connor Pani, Lucas Lowery and Oli Thompson in the club’s first team squad.
Tom Bradley, Assistant Principal at the college said: “We’re absolutely delighted to see Carter sign his first professional contract with Gateshead Football Club. He’s an incredibly talented individual, and this achievement reflects his commitment and hard work.
“Carter’s progression also highlights the strength of our academy partnership with the club. It’s clear that the coaching and development pathways we’ve built are equipping young players with the skills and mindset needed to reach the next level.”
