Our Level 3 BTEC Sport courses are internally assessed through set coursework and assignments which will consist of written work, presentations, posters and practical observations.
Each unit is assessed as a Pass, Merit or Distinction and the mix of grades that you achieve for each unit will make up your final overall grade.
During your qualification you will develop the transferable and higher-order skills that are highly regarded by higher education providers and employers in sport. For example, the study of sports coaching and development particularly encourages the development of skills and behaviours such as teamwork, leadership, communication and self-employment.
Part of the area of study involves exploring how to set yourself up as a self-employed sports industry professional and many of our alumni are involved in working on self-employed basis.
These skills are developed through the variety of approaches to teaching and learning enabled by the specification.
The qualification also carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant sports and sports-related courses, for example in the last three years we have had students progress onto further studies

- Sports Coaching BSc (Honours) at Northumbria University
