Day / Time
Are you a logical thinker and problem solver?
Our course in Software Engineering & Development will equip you with the skills you need to design, develop, and implement the systems that we use day in and day out.
You will explore different programming languages, including those used to develop the applications and web pages you use every day.
You'll learn how to think outside the box, create bug-free software that can be maintained for years, and gain the knowledge and skills to become a software developer, gain an apprenticeship, or go on to further study.
Our course is project-based, so you will have plenty of opportunities to put your new skills to the test.
You'll work on live projects set by local employers, gaining industry experience as you go.
You'll also work on a range of projects that cover everything from e-Learning applications to interactive websites and business applications of social media.
We offer work experience placements, employer talks, commercial and vocational projects, which will help you make a lasting impression on potential employers and can often lead to gaining an apprenticeship.
You will be assessed through a series of employer led digital projects during your first year of study with us and two external exams.
You will adopt an Agile approach to project management that will culminate in a solution that meets the needs of the client.
Working on these projects will help you develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours that are required by the digital industry.
Our teachers are ambitious, talented and passionate about making your experience at college the very best it can be.
They are members of Dynamo North East and Digital Union and have up to date industry experience to share with you and the energy and enthusiasm to help you to get where you need to be.
While studying with us you will have opportunities to work on live commissions that are set by local employers.
These will give you a feel of what it is like to work in an agile environment.
Previous students have successfully completed commissions for Enigma Interactive and The Common Room.
You will also be given opportunities to take part in an industry placement that will enhance your CV and give you the employment edge.
Our Digital Technology curriculum is reviewed by a range of employers to ensure that you will develop the skills required to work in the digital industry.
