Senior Paint Technician Accreditation (ATA)

Accredited by the Institute of Motor Industries (IMI) these accreditations were created to help the motor industry keep on top of constant, rapid changes in technology, legislation and working methods, by encouraging and measuring the current competence, knowledge and ability of those working within it. By providing proof of current competence, accreditations benefits both individuals and their employers.

This course is intended for technicians whose job role involves the repair of vehicles typically involved in accidents or similar incident circumstances. The course will be made up of an online assessment containing 30 questions and the following practical assessments:

  • Polish and prepare panel (existing)
  • Colour identification and colour variant
  • Surface preparation
  • Primed surface flatting
  • Panel sealing
  • Panel preparation (new panel)   
  • Wet on wet primer (application)
  • 3 stage pearlescent paint (application)
  • Paint defects and rectification procedure

Senior Technicians should be working in the accident repair sector of the industry and have at least three years’ experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to give a fault free finish for both the preparation of panels (existing and new) and the finishing of panels to match exist vehicle paint.

We can also offer re -accreditation and Paint Technician accreditation if required.
