This course will give you the skills and knowledge you need to become a qualified nail technician, undertaking nail enhancements and advanced nail art.
You'll train in our commercial salon Botanica, working with our professional salon team and servicing paying clients.
You'll also benefit from our network of employer partners, take part in compeitions and undertake work experience.
You'll study the following:
- Working with others within the beauty related industries
- Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Promoting and selling products and services to clients
- Applying and maintaining nail enhancements
- Airbrush design for nails
- Design and apply nail art
- Nail enhancements and advanced hand and nail art techniques
- Creating an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
- Enhance nails using electrical files
- Explore technological developments within hair, beauty and associated
areas
Throughout the course, we'll monitor your progress and provide constructive feedback to help you to improve where needed. We'll measure your skills and knowledge against nationally recognised standards specific to the beauty sector. We assess you in a range of ways including practical tasks in our salon Botanica, projects from which you'll create a portfolio of evidence and written coursework and assignments, some of which you may need to do at home.
You'll need to buy a uniform and a professional nail technology kit. We'll let you know the prices during the application process and help you to source these items through our preferred suppliers, ensuring you get the best value for money. Funding support is also available to those who meet the eligibility criteria. Ask us for more information at out enrolment events.
This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19
years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are
grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to
college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
