Day / Time
Working as part of our professional team in our hairdressing salon, Botanica, you'll have the opportunity to perfect your customer care skills and understand what it means to work as part of an effective team, dealing with paying clients.
You'll follow an innovative programme of challenging and exciting practical skills and knowledge based theory relating to multiple aspects of advanced hairdressing, have the opportunity to build up your own portfolio of work and enter regional and national competitions at which our past students have enjoyed phenomenal success.
You'll study the following modules:
- Working with colleagues in hairdressing related industries
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Cutting techniques
- Advanced colour correction
- Creative long hair and bridal styling
- Creative hair extensions
Throughout the course, we'll monitor your progress and provide constructive feedback to help you to improve where needed. We'll measure your skills and knowledge against nationally recognised standards specific to the hairdressing sector and all practical assessments will take place in our salon Botanica on paying clients or fellow students.
All courses are delivered by highly skilled, experienced staff. Teaching styles are differentiated to suit and benefit you as much as possible.
Our network of employer partners includes Milkshake, Wella, Glamorous Lengths Hair Extentions, City Retreat, The Arch, Hilton NewcastleGateshead, Steiner Skincare and Spas and Eve Taylor London. Working with these partners means we're able to keep our training relevant to today's fast paced industry and ensure you are familiar with the latest techniques and products. It also means we're able to source brilliant work experience opportunities to allow you to understand more about the world of work and build up an important contacts list.
All practical sessions are taught in our industry standard salon, Botanica, complete with two hairdressing salons, a beauty suite and a nail bar.
You'll wear a salon uniform during your training and use a professional hairdressers kit.
After the course, you could progress directly into the hairdressing industry in a salon, hotel or spa. Fully trained hairdressers can earn up to £20,000 a year and at the top of the profession, hairdressers can earn more than £30,000. This industry also lends itself perfectly to becoming your own boss.
If you choose to stay in education, you can progress onto a Level 4 qualification or Foundation Degree in Salon Management qualification. You could also consider training to become a teacher.
There will be a cost for uniform and hairdressing kit. We'll let you know more about this during the application process and we'll help you to source these items from our preferred suppliers, ensuring you get the best value for money.
Funding support is also available if you meet the eligibility criteria. Ask
