Day / Time
If you would you like to take your Yoga practice to the next level and
even make a career out of your passion, this course is for you!
Participation in Yoga has been steadily increasing and with a post-COVID focus on wellbeing, this trend is likely to continue in the future. On completion of this course you will be able to deliver Yoga sessions independently to your clients and develop your own business. You will have developed the key teaching skill of continual reflection and improvement in your practice so that your classes are known for high-quality delivery and client satisfaction.
The course is structured so that you can fit it around current working commitments if you have them. Over 6 weekends between October and March, you will learn how to teach yoga safely and effectively. Your course tutor will guide you through the underpinning principles of yoga including covering a wide range of different yoga styles. You will learn about the anatomy of yoga, it’s history, being a teacher and how to plan, execute and reflect on a great yoga session.
You will study 5 modules on this course:
- Underpinning principles of teaching yoga
- Anatomy and physiology for yoga
- Planning a series of yoga sessions
- Health and safety of yoga
- Teaching a yoga session
Each delivery day will be a mixture of these units as you work towards the assessment goals. You will find the teaching days a fantastic mixture of practical and classroom-based activities and you will have lots of time for professional discussion about your own yoga practice and teaching that you will carry out in-between the taught blocks.
You will need to attend from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday on the following weekends:
- October - 24th/25th
- November - 14th/15th
- December 12th/13th
- January 16th/17th
- February 20th/21st
- March 13th/14th (formative and summative assessment days).
- There will be a final assessment day on Saturday March
This course is assessed using both written and practical methods. You will create a written portfolio of evidence including worksheets, session plans, 10-week plans, self-evaluations, a personal development plan, personal practice diary and a reflection diary.
You will also be observed delivering yoga sessions and will use the feedback to prepare for your final summative assessment day at the end of the course.
