Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

This part-time 1 year course is funded for over 18’s and will prepare you to become an Early Years Educator, giving you the skills to:

  • Work with children in an unsupervised role from birth to 5 years
  • Gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years
  • Progress onto higher education

You will gain valuable 'hands-on' experience in our outstanding nursery classroom and will carry out a range of activities in this setting prior to commencing substantial work placement and during your course.

You will learn by a range of activities including practical activities, demonstrations and guest speakers, by having an individual learning plan, setting your own targets during tutorial sessions and by teachers ensuring there are opportunities for you to stretch and challenge your learning and development.

You will complete a range of assessments including poster and presentation work, assignments, case studies and projects.

You will follow a study programme to help you develop a range of skills that will support your progress to employment.

This will include:

  • Communication and multi-disciplinary teamwork as part of job pursuit workshops
  • Projects that enhance the curriculum such as working with local organisations such as Seven Stories (The National Centre for Children's Books)
  • Undertake projects around equality and diversity
  • Take part in fundraising activities
  • Further develop skills and knowledge in English and maths.

We know how important it is you continue to develop your skills and knowledge of English and maths as this is what employers want their employees to be competent in. We will put a programme together which best meets your needs and will embed these subjects into your curriculum.

You are required to have English and Maths (GCSE grade 4 or equivalent) to practice as a Level 3 early Years Educator.
