The arts industry contributed £29.5 billion to the UK economy and in the last year has made a 7.2 per cent increase on the previous year. The UK arts and culture industry support 260,300 full-time equivalent jobs and Dance is one of the most creative, challenging and dynamic career routes you can pursue. Our Commercial Dance provision gives you control of your own development, choosing specialisms that suit you whilst tapping in to your potential to give you the confidence to seek employment in this exciting industry. Studying a vocational qualification enables you to freely to explore options, take creative risks and choose a path that challenges and excites you.

Our vocational programme mirrors current working practices of the dance industry and focusses on building your skill and knowledge across dance genres specifically, through technique, choreography and performance. The course provides workshop opportunities with prominent industry dancers and choreographers, both in college and at external venues; with opportunities to visit key dance events throughout the academic year such as ‘Move It’ and ‘Can You Dance?’. Our highly trained and experienced team, work with you to up-skill all aspects of your training which include you taking weekly classes in classical ballet and modern jazz, urban dance, workshops in musical theatre and lyrical dance. Supporting practical elements, you will learn dance business and study progression routes in to higher education and dance employment. Weekly choreography sessions enable you to hone in further on your creativity skill set and develop wider employability skills, skills which are vital when working in the performing arts industry. On Commercial dance you will get to push your physical limitations and build up core strength and flexibility, you will take workshops with up and coming dancers and choreographers, participate in dance shows to live audiences and create a portfolio of work and you will meet friends for life, whilst taking one step closer to securing your dream job.
