Level 2 in Professional Cookery

If you have a passion for food and would like a career in professional cookery, this year-long, nationally recognised qualification will help you develop the skills and knowledge that this fast-paced industry requires. Past students have enjoyed great success including employment with top North East eateries such as Terry Laybourne's Broad Chare and 21, House of Tides, Seaham Hall, Six at BALTIC, Crowne Plaza, Jesmond Dene House, as well as prestigious hotels including The Ritz London.

Training in our professional standard kitchens you'll studying a range of techniques involved in preparing and cooking different types of dishes including:

  • Pastry
  • Bread
  • Shellfish
  • Meat
  • Poultry
  • Soups and stocks
  • Desserts


You'll also complete qualifications in food service, food hygiene and health and safety to give you the edge when interviewing for jobs.  Food service is a Level 2 qualification, so you will be achieving double the normal qualifications all in one year. You'll also have the opportunity to achieve vital maths and English qualifications.
