The UK games industry is the third largest in the world and is going from strength to strength - you can be part of this dynamic cutting edge sector.
We’re looking for students who are interested in developing their games design skills. Don’t worry if you feel you can’t draw to a high standard already, as we’ll teach this, you just need to be willing to learn.
On the course, you'll cover:
- Create and complete full games
- Create and design assets, environments and characters for games
- Learn how to create animations
- Develop sound production skills
- Develop narrative writing skills
- Learn digital design techniques
We work hard to make fantastic partnerships with employers to give you experience of the world of work. All our students will undertake commissioned work for a range of companies both in and outside of the games industry. Career development is central to our courses and we continually work to gain you relevant, real world experience. Currently we work with leading technology companies such as PROTO, Sumo Digital and Tombola, to name a few.
We also participate, and are reigning champions, in a number of externally set Game Jams – they’re our favourite thing!
In addition, we promote a ‘beyond entertainment" approach where your newly developed skills may be transferred into other fields such as games for education and the gamification of everything. This is highlighted in our partnership with Northumbrian Water, where students are work on an exciting range of projects.
After the course you can progress onto one of our Level 3 courses, which are equivalent to three A Levels and can help gain entry to university or into work. Our team, along with our expert careers advisers will guide you throughout the course, helping you to build your skills and confidence and helping you to decide what is right for you.
