This study programme is endorsed by Jon Stubbs and our Digital Technology Department are members of Dynamo North East and Digital Union. This exciting study programme will help you build up a range of creative and technical skills and knowledge to help you get into a wide range of computing jobs in the future or to progress onto further study programmes such as Level 3 Diplomas.
On the course, you'll cover:
This project will investigate the use of social media, emerging technologies including Virtual Reality, cloud computing, computing infrastructure, an intro to programming and HTML, and networking.
Websites and Multimedia
This project, set by a local employer which will see you creating a variety of digital graphics and audio using industry standard software to produce a digital portfolio. The products will include interactive multimedia content such as videos, podcasts and animations and the finished products will be presented to a panel of local employers
This project will enhance your skills in developing programs using C# and Python. You will be given a live project brief by a local employer to demonstrate your design, implementation and testing skills in developing a software solution.
Relevant and high quality work experience placements, employer mentoring and commercial and vocational projects will help you to understand more about the world of work and are an important part of your study programme. Plus make an impression on an employer and who knows where that could lead.
Employer Engagement Scheme
You'll be part of an employer engagement scheme where you will work with employers from local businesses to help improve your skills further. The possibilities with this scheme are endless, students have been given real-life projects to work on, visited the employers at work and been given opportunities to showcase their work. This scheme, along with our tutorial programme will help you become work ready as well as preparing you for the outside world with training on money management, help with job hunting, interviews and confidence building. We want you to be job ready when you leave us and able to put what you have learnt into practice in the workplace.
4 GCSEs at grades D-G (3-1) preferably including maths and English - We appreciate that calculated grades may not give a true reflection of your ability to study at this level therefore we will continue to assess during your induction period.
We will measure your motivation and behaviours as well as your attitude towards your studies, these are all expectations that are used to measure candidates during a probation period in industry.
