This course will give you a good introduction to the travel and tourism industry ans has been designed in partnership withour employer partners whcih include Swissport, Jet2, Hays Travel, Crowne Plaza and Hilton NewcastleGateshead.It can lead to jobs in a range of travel and tourism organisations, including travel agents, hotels and visitor attractions. After the course you can progress to our Level 2 course.
You will study many aspects of the travel industry including holiday resorts and travel companies, world and UK destinations and customer service. You will have the opportunity to study and research job roles and employment opportunities in the travel and tourism industry.
This course was written in conjunction with leading travel companies and provides the basic introduction for all jobs in the industry, including travel agents, hotels, visitor attractions, tour operators and airlines.
The units studied include:
- Customer Service in Travel & Tourism
- Promoting products and services
- The UK Travel & Tourism Industry
- World and UK Destinations
- Employment in Travel & Tourism
You will study maths and English at a suitable level, alongside your travel and tourism qualification.
The course will also include some trips to tourism attractions to help build your knowledge of the industry in action.
You will be assessed in a varitiy of ways to help you to progress and improve where needed. Assessments include practical activities, coursework, a written exam or an online test.
This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
