Skills Academy - Automotive
This level 1 course has been specifically designed for those who are interested in pursuing a career in or developing their existing skills in the welding.
The content and teaching methods have been prepared based on feedback from the employers we work with, meaning they are relevant to today's industry.
You'll learn through a blend of theory and practical based sessions with a large proportion of the delivery taking place in our dedicated welding workshops, allowing you to develop your practical skills.

Throughout the programme, you will be producing work that will be assessed against the City & Guilds criteria.
The final assessment will consist of work produced including unit-based knowledge and practical assessments. We will support you throughout the programme with regular assessment tasks and feedback in preparation for these.

We possess a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience as well as a

the sector having worked in industry before moving into
teaching.
We have 16 fully equipped welding stations in our dedicated welding workshops at our Skills Academy for Automotive, Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics.
You will need to provide your own safety footwear, fire retardant overalls and welding cap for all welding courses.
This level 1 qualification is designed to provide you with an introduction to TIG welding processes and techniques, allowing you to establish a solid foundation in welding practices.
Upon completion of this qualification, you may wish to progress directly onto the level 2 award in TIG welding.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
