If you are interested in starting a career in the beauty industry then this is the course for you. The course covers a wide range of beauty, make-up and nail skills which will help you on your way to becoming a qualified practitioner in the future. You'll train in our industry salon Botanica as part of our professional salon team and follow an innovative programme of challenging and exciting practical skills and knowledge based theory.
You'll study the following modules:
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Skin care
- Hand care
- Basic make-up application
- Themed face painting
- Nail art application
- Providing basic manicure treatment
- Providing basic pedicure treatment
- Create a hair and beauty image
- Follow health and safety in the salon
- Salon reception duties
- Working with others in the hair and beauty sector.
Our network of employer partners and professional brands includes Eve Taylor London, Steiner Skincare and Spa, City Retreat and Hilton NewcastleGatesehead. Working with these employers means you learn the most up to date techniques and we're able to source brilliant work experience opportunities.
All practical sessions will be taught within our on site professional standard salon, Botanica where you'll work as part of the professional salon team, servicing paying clients.
You'll wear a salon uniform during the course and use a professional kit.
You'll need to buy a uniform and a professional kit. We'll let you know the prices during the application process and help you to source these items through our preferred suppliers, ensuring you get the best value for money.
Funding support is also available to those who meet the eligibility criteria.

This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.
Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced price
course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover
the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 years over, you can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the fee upfront in full and qualify for a 10% discount.
