This programme is aimed at musicians, programmers, technologists and producers who want to understand the processes and technology involved in music production, from composing to arranging to recording to distribution. Upon successful completion you will achieve a BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Music (Production).
The curriculum is designed to encourage you to pursue entrepreneurial activities. We want you to leave us with a CV packed with experience and an impressive portfolio to place you in an ideal position to launch your music career. On the way you’ll learn how to sharpen your technical skills, work professionally with clients and apply your musical skills and your understanding of music technology to production projects.
You will study:
- Practical music production using our in-house production suites
- How to make and sell music
- How to work with and learn from industry professionals
- How to build a portfolio of high quality work
- An understanding of sound technology and theory
A mixture of assessment methods will be used on this programme, including assignments, portfolio and observation of practice in the workplace to evidence competency.
Your work will be continuously assessed using assignments, case studies, and practical work.
Delivery will consist of a combination of theoretical and practical activities which will allow you to consolidate and apply your knowledge in real life working scenarios
Teacher led lessons, student led presentations, practicals and electronic based material.
The course is very practical, and is delivered by tutors with a wealth of experience.
96 UCAS tariff points and a relevant Level 3 qualification (Eg. BTEC Extended Diploma in Music Technology). We will consider applicants who do not have a relevant qualification but who have the equivalent experience and knowledge of music production and technology systems and software, confirmed via an interview.
A working knowledge of music production and technology systems and software to Level 3 standard is desirable.
Mature candidates with relevant work experience are encouraged to apply.
