The new HNC Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications in Construction, was developed in collaboration with a wide range of students, employers, higher education providers, colleges and subject experts to ensure that the new qualifications meet their needs and expectations.
There is now a greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness. The new BTEC Higher National qualifications in Construction was designed to reflect this increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5, thereby providing you with a clear line of sight to employment and to progression to a degree at Level 6.
The Level 4 BTEC Higher National Certificate in Construction (Building Services) offers you a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, as well as units within general ‘pathways’, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through the selection of a further (Level 4) unit across a range of occupational sectors. This effectively builds underpinning core skills, with general specialisation; preparing you for further specialisation at Level 5.

- UNIT 4: Construction practice and Management
- UNIT 8: Mathematics in Construction
- UNIT 9: Principles of Heating Services Design & Installation
- UNIT 10: Principles of Ventilation & Air Conditioning & installation
- UNIT 48: Scientific Principles for Building Services
- UNIT 6: Construction Information (BIM/REVIT Skills development)

If the course lasts for one or more years, this is the fee you’ll pay per year of study. There may be additional costs for equipment, uniforms or study resources which we’ll let you know about at your course interview.
This is a set fee and will apply to those paying for themselves, paying via a Student Loan and for those being sponsored by an employer.
If you are sponsored by your employer you will need to confirm this in writing to secure your place. Discounts may apply for employers sponsoring several employees.
