City & Guilds Level 1 Food Preparation & Cooking

This introductory course will help you to start to build the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to get a junior level job in the catering industry. Covering a wide range of food preparation and cooking skills and knowledge based theory, all content is up to date and relevant to today's food industry. All sessions are delivered in our modern, student-run restaurant, Enfields Kitchen, which is open to the public serving lunch and dinner.

You will study:

  • Introduction to the catering industry
  • Maintaining food safety when preparing and cooking  and serving food
  • How to prepare and cook basic dough products
  • How to prepare and cook vegetables 
  • Working as part of a hospitality team
  • Preparing and cooking meat products
  • Maintaining customer care.
