City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector

Tuesday 4pm to 7pm
This course will help you to develop the introductory skills you need to secure a juinor salon role or to progress onto a Level 2 course. Cover aspects of both hair and beauty, the course allows you to get a taste for the full industry to see what you enjoy the most, before chossing a specialism for future training. All training is delivered by our professional salon team in our commercial salon Botanica, with regular brand updates from our employer partners such as Milk Shake.
You'll study the following:
- Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Styling women’s hair
- Styling men’s hair
- Plaiting and twisting the hair
- Shampooing and conditioning the hair
- Creating a hair and beauty image
- Following health and safety in the salon
- Salon reception duties
- The art of dressing hair
- The art of colouring hair.
You will be continually and formally assessed during this course. Theory assessments will be carried out via assignments and formal testing and practical assessments will be carried out in our on site salon, Botanica. All assessments will be measured against the nationally recognised standards of the awarding body, City and Guilds. You may also be asked to carry out case studies and research work at home.
