If you’re interested in starting a career in the barbering industry then this is the course for you. The course covers a wide range of barbering skills which will help you on your way to becoming a qualified barber at the end of the course.
You will cover the following on this course:
- Working with colleagues in barbering related industries
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Cutting techniques
- Colouring techniques
- Cutting facial hair
- Drying and styling the hair
- Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
- Advise and consult
Days & Times
Thursdays 9am to 5pm
You will be continually and formally assessed throughout this course. Theory assessments will be carried out via assignments and formal testing. Practical assessments will be carried out within a realistic working environment against awarding body standards. You may be asked to carry out case studies and research work at home.
All courses are delivered by highly skilled and experienced staff who regularly update their skills in the latest techniques to ensure your learning is as relevant and up to date as possible.
We work with a wide range of hairdressing professional companies such as Milkshake and Wella, plus many more to give you the product knowledge and skills requested by employers in the industry.
All practical sessions will be taught within our new commercial salon, Botanica, where you will have the opportunity to work as part of a professional salon team, offering services to paying customers.
On completion of this course, you may progress onto a Level 3 Diploma in Barbering course, following a successful interview.
No prior skills are required, however you will need to have achieved a Level 1 Esol qualification if English is not your first language.
You will need a positive attitude good communication skills and a commitment to study.
You will be invited to buy a salon uniform to wear throughout the course. We'll let you know the price of this when you enrol. You will also have the opportunity to take part in addtional training with our brand partners, such as Wella or Milk Shake. There may be additional costs for this training.
This course is free if you are aged 19 years and under. Most people aged
19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced course fees, depending on
