This course covers a wide range of advanced hairdressing skills which will help you on your way to becoming more highly skilled. You will follow an innovative programme of challenging and exciting practical skills and knowledge based theory, all delivered by our professional salon team in our commercial salon, Botanica.

On this course you will study:

Working with colleagues in hairdressing related industries
Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
Promote and sell products and services to clients
Cutting techniques
Advanced colour correction
Creative long hair and bridal styling
Creative hair extensions

Mondays & Tuesdays, 9am to 5pm

Assessment

You will be continually and formally assessed throughout this course to make sure you are developing the skills you need to be successful. Theory assessments will be carried out via assignments and formal testing and practical assessments will be carried out in our commercial salon Botanica, on paying clients or fellow students. All assessments will be measured against the nationally recognised standards of the awarding body. You may also be asked to carry out case studies and research work at home.

The teaching team

This course is delivered by our friendly, highly skilled and experienced staff. Their teaching styles are adpated to suit your needs, making your learning experience personal and as enjoyable as possible. Guest speakers from professional salons and brands are regular visitors to Botanica, to ensure the course content is up to date with emerging trends and techniques.

Work Experience & Employer Partners

Our brilliant links with professaionl salons allows us to source you the very best work experience placement, giving you hands on, practical learning in a commercial environment. You'll complete at least one day's work experience on this course.

Facilities, kit and equipment

All practical sessions are taught in our commercial salon, Botanica, which is equipped with two hair salons, a beauty suite, nail bar, barbering facility and make-up room, similar to any top end high street salon. It is open to the public meaning you'll work alongside our professional team to cut and style paying clients. You'll be invited to buy a salon uniform which must be worn at all times. We'll let you know the cost of this when you enrol.

Next Steps

On completion of this course, you can either step into or continue employment in a hair salon or progress onto another of our Level 3 programmes in beauty or nails to further develop your skillset or our Level 4 course.

Required Entry Qualifications

A Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, pass a skills test and an interview with our team.

Costs (excluding fees)

You will need to buy a uniform to wear on this course. We'll let you know the price of this when you enrol. You will also have the opportunity to take part in bespoke training with brands such as Wella and Milk Shake, which may cost extra.

Finance and funding

This course is free if you are aged 19 years and under. Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free or reduced course fees, depending on personal circumstances.

If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 or over you can pay the fee in full upfront and receive a 10% discount. Or you can apply for an Adult Advanced Learner Loan, a low interest loan with no upfront fees that you pay back in installments once you're earning. Free Level 3 courses

If you’re aged over 24, live in England and don’t yet have a Level 3 qualification, this course will be free to you.

This course is part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, a new initiative set up to help adults achieve their first full level 3 qualification.
If you are aged 19-23 you can still qualify for free tuition on some of our other Level 3 qualifications.
