Get started on your career in Engineering and Manufacturing with this T Level.

It has been developed in collaboration with employers and professional bodies which will give you the essential practical and theoretical skills to work in the engineering industry.

You’ll develop an in depth understanding of how the engineering industry works, principles of engineering design and manufacture, manufacturing techniques, theories of mechanical engineering and a wide range of practical engineering skills.

As this course is a T Level, you’ll spend 80% of your time at college studying and 20% on an industry placement, where you will put what you have been learning in the classroom into practice with an employer.

What will I learn?

You’ll develop an in-depth understanding of:

  • Engineering mathematics
  • Further engineering mathematics
  • Further engineering science
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Principles or Further Electrical and electronics principles
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Engineering design process

Assessment

You’ll have two core exams that cover the key engineering principles taught in the first year as well as an employer set project (which takes the form of a controlled assessment over the course of one week) followed by an occupational specialism (practical project/assessment) in the second year.

Our workshops and equipment are industry standard and include a range mechanical maintenance equipment including:

  • lathes
  • millers
  • grinders
  • fabrication and welding workshops
  • electronics laboratory
  • pneumatics
  • PLCs
  • ICT suites with engineering simulation software packages, including Matlab, MultiSim, Autocad Inventor and Wind and Solar stimulation stations.

Once you have completed this course you can join our HNC, secure an apprenticeship or progress into employment or university.

Five GCSEs at 5-9 including English and maths.

Our highly skilled and experienced team of engineers will work with you to help you build the skills and knowledge employers require for your career in engineering.

Each of the team has served their time in their industries and can use their skillset to help prepare you for your career.

You will take part in a meaningful work experience placement with one our of partners.

The placement will be designed to help you put your learning into practice and will offer a valuable opportunity to get a taste of the real world of work, feedback from engineering mentors and the chance to see for yourself what an apprenticeship or job in engineering might be like.

Our partners include:

  • Adient
  • Baker Hughes
  • Beamish
  • Cummins
  • Dyer Engineering
  • EDM Zone
  • Ford Engineering
  • Graphic Packaging
  • Baker Hughes
  • Liebherr
