Sport and Physical Activity with Outdoor Education Level 3


Did you know that the outdoor education business is predicted to grow 11% in the coming years?

If you enjoy activities such as Climbing, Mountain Biking, Paddle Boarding, Rambling, Orienteering, and Kayaking to name a few this course is for you.

This course is solely designed for a career in outdoor education or to run your own outdoor activity sessions.

We have a close working relationship with outdoor education specialists who had an input into the course design.

The course will be a combination of practical and outdoor activities alongside the theory needed to make you a knowledgeable practitioner.

Units are internally assessed through practical observations and written assignments.

You’ll study:

  • Alternative Pursuits for Outdoor Education
  • Equipment and facilities for outdoor education
  • Leading land-based activities
  • Leading water-based activities
  • Impact and sustainability in outdoor adventure
  • Environmental education for outdoor adventure
  • Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activities
  • Skills for water-based outdoor and adventurous activities
  • Outdoor Adventurous Expeditions
  • Business in Outdoor Education

They have up to date industry experience to share with you and the energy and enthusiasm to help you to get where you need to be.

It is important to ensure you are work-ready.

We will work with our partners at Challenge Northumberland, Simonside Activity Centre and many others to give you the experience and guidance to work in this industry.

This includes mandatory 30 hour work experience.

Whatever support you need, we’re here for you and will make sure you get the most out of your time at college.

We have expert teams in place to look after every single one of our students.

This course does carry UCAS points if you wish to continue study at university.

There are a number of degree courses around the country that offer Outdoor Education as an option.

If you wish to seek employment in the industry we will give you the right advice and guidance in ensuring you have the necessary skill based qualifications alongside this course.

5 GCSES, 4 and above including Maths and English.

This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.
