Skills Bootcamp in Introduction to Teaching & Learning


Thinknig about a career in teaching? This Skills Bootcamp offers a great introduction to teaching and is ideal if you are looking to find out more about the sector before undertaking further teaching qualifications.

This programme is designed to:

  • Give you the essential skills and knowledge to become a competent and confident teacher. 
  • Guide you through the process of planning and delivering effective teaching and training sessions.
  • Gain practical real-world experience.
  • Give you opportunity to practice your teaching and training skills in a supportive and constructive environment, receiving feedback from experienced professionals to help you improve.
  • Enable you to pursue a variety of career paths in teaching and training, including working in further education, community education, workplace training and more.

Course content includes:

1. Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
2. Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.
3. Understanding assessment in education and training

Assessment

You will be assessed using a wide range of assessment methods which will include:

  • Observation of your practice
  • Professional discussion
  • Reflective accounts of your own practice
  • Written assignments
  • Presentations

On completion of your bootcamp you’re guaranteed a job interview with an employer.

All applicants are invited to interview and take part in an initial assessment process to check your suitability for this bootcamp.

This course is free (fully funded) for independent learners (those not taking the course through their employer).

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be aged 19 or older
  • Live in the North East Combined Authority area (Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland or County Durham)
  • Have the right to work in the UK and meets residency requirements
  • Employers using bootcamps to upskill their workforce will be required to pay a contribution (10% for SME and 30% for large employers).
Our bootcamps are all 3 hours a week for 16 weeks. We offer various dates and times depending on demand.
