Skills Bootcamp – Assessing Vocational Achievement


This Skills Bootcamp is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

You will cover the following units:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
  • Assess occupational competence in the work environment
  • Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Assessment

You will be assessed using a wide range of assessment methods which will include:

  • Observation of your practice
  • Professional discussion
  • Reflective accounts of your own practice
  • Written assignments
  • Presentations

After you’ve finished your Skills Bootcamp, you’re guaranteed a job interview with an employer.

All applicants are invited to interview and take part in an initial assessment process to check your suitability for this bootcamp.

This course is free (fully funded) for independent learners (those not taking the course through their employer).

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be aged 19 or older
  • Live in the North East Combined Authority area (Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland or County Durham)
  • Have the right to work in the UK and meets residency requirements
  • Employers using bootcamps to upskill their workforce will be required to pay a contribution (10% for SME and 30% for large employers).
