Rail Track Engineering


Start your career in Rail Engineering with our Level 2 Rail Engineering programme, designed for those looking to enter one of the UK’s most vital and fast-expanding industries.

This course provides a strong foundation in rail engineering, helping you develop essential technical knowledge, practical skills, and an understanding of how the rail industry operates.

You will also gain insight into workplace expectations, Health and safety standards, teamwork and, and professional communication all crucial for success in the sector.

You’ll perform practical training at an industry-standard training facility that replicates real working conditions. The Railway facilities are equipped with operational rail infrastructure, including track systems and specialist tools used in track maintenance.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in a real working environment, supported by industry experts, giving you the skills, knowledge, and confidence to move on to further study, apprenticeships, or a career in the rail industry.

Our rail engineering tutors bring over 15 years of hands-on experience working with Network Rail, and they continue to work every weekend on live rail projects to maintain their industry competencies.

Their up-to-date knowledge and extensive practical expertise ensure that you’re learning from professionals who truly understand the demands of the rail sector.

This course is free to those aged under 19 years old.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A QUALIFICATION IN RAIL TRACK ENGINEERING?

  • Rail Construction and Maintenance Operatives

Knowledge

Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.

Transportation: Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

Education and Training: Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Public Safety and Security: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
