This programme is ideal for those wanting to enter the plumbing industry.

You’ll have the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge in basic plumbing enabling you to progress onto our Level 2 course.

You will study:

  • Cold water systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Bending and jointing various types of metal and plastic piping
  • Environmental awareness
  • Basic plumbing maintenance tasks

You will also have a weekly tutorial, take part in course enrichment activities and study maths and English at your appropriate level.

 

Required Entry Qualifications

Two GCSE grades at 3 or above, ideally including maths and English, or an equivalent.

Throughout the course, we’ll monitor your progress and provide constructive feedback to help you to improve where needed.

We’ll measure your skills and knowledge against nationally recognised standards specific to the construction area.

We assess you in a range of ways including practical tasks and projects from which you’ll create a portfolio of evidence, set online exams and written coursework and assignments.

A highly motivated team of industry specialist with a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of vocational trades will make up your teaching team.

Our aim is to work with you to support you to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to succeed in the construction environment.

Our industry partners include Local Authorities, CMS and the Health Service ensuring that our course content is always up to date and relevant to today’s construction industry and that our work placement opportunities are with some of the best employers in our region.

Once you’ve passed the Health, Safety and Environment test you’ll be able to gain work experience with local companies to practice the skills you learn at college in the real world.

Gaining this experience is ideal for moving onto an apprenticeship or employment.

You’ll train at our purpose built Skills Academy for Construction which is kitted out with dedicated workshop areas for each trade.

On completion of this qualification you will have developed the skills and knowledge needed to our Level 2 in Plumbing Studies.

  • Plumbers and Heating and Ventilating Installers and Repairers

Knowledge

Building and Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.

Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Physics: Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes.
