Already have the basic skills in hairdressing?

This course will develop your skills to industry standard where you can gain employment in a Hairdressing salon or continue onto a higher level course..

You will be working in our in house salon Botanica, consulting with clients and providing hairdressing services as in industry.

This will help you to grow your confidence to take the next step in your career path.

You will be supported in every step by our amazing hair teachers.

Here’s what you’ll learn in our hairdressing programme, based on the specified units:

  • Working in the Hair Industry
  • Health and safety
  • Consultation
  • Shampoo and Condition the Hair and Scalp
  • Promote Products and Services in the Salon
  • Cut Women’s Hair
  • Colour and Lighten the Hair
  • Perm and Neutralise the Hair
  • The Art of Dressing the Hair
  • Create an Image with the Hair and Beauty
  • Reception Duties

Required Entry Qualifications

Level 1 Hairdressing and in informal interview with a member of our teaching team.

We’ll assess your progress as you go through the programme, giving you feedback to help you to improve where needed.

Assessments will be carried out in our training salon, Botanica and you’ll be marked against the standards of the awarding body.

Our hair team are highly experienced and have years of teaching and industry experience.

Our network of professional brands includes Wella, Milkshake and Osmo.

Working with these brands means you learn the most up to date techniques and we’re able to source brilliant work experience opportunities.

  • We’re a part of the Green Salon Collective, a company that offer Zero-to-Landfill Salon Recycling Solutions for Hairdressers.
  • Our hair, foils and metal tubes are recycled.
  • We use eco-heads, shower heads that reduce water use by around 70%.
  • Our beauty supplier is Eve Taylor and for every product we buy, they plant a tree.
  • We don’t print our learning portfolios, they’re all online.
  • We use the Wella Hero platform, which helps the students gain knowledge on all aspects education in the hair industry including sustainable salon operations.

You’ll train in our industry standard salon, Botanica, complete with two hairdressing salons. You’ll work as part of our professional salon team servicing paying clients.

You’ll wear a uniform as part of the course and work with a professional hairdressing kit.

After the course you can progress to our Level 3 Hairdressing course or an apprenticeship.

Fast track to an apprenticeship

You can start on this programme and fast track to an apprenticeship once you’re ready and a vacancy becomes available.

You will require a kit and uniform, which will allow you to present a professional image and develop your skills in our own salon Botanica, we will invite you to our summer open event where we share all the information on how to get your hands on everything you need.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.

If you don’t qualify for funding help and have to pay for course, you could pay a 25% deposit and four consecutive monthly standing order payments for the balance. The course fee must be over £100 to qualify.

If this is a Level 3 qualification and you may qualify for free course fees and there may be grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances. If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 or over you can pay the fee in full upfront and receive a 10% discount. Or you can apply for an Adult Advanced Learner Loan, a low interest loan with no upfront fees that you pay back in installments once you’re earning. Those aged under 18 years old are not eligible to study this course as it is a part time programme.
