Our comprehensive training programme is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the competitive hairdressing industry.

At Botanica, you’ll benefit from a curriculum that mirrors the latest trends and techniques in the industry, offering you a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

To boost your confidence and practical skills, you’ll also have the opportunity to work one day a week in a salon, gaining valuable work experience and exposure to real-world salon operations.

Required Entry Qualifications

A minimum of 4 GCSE grades 1-3, an interview with our team, good communication skills and a positive attitude.

You will be continually and formally assessed during this course.

Theory assessments will be carried out via assignments and formal testing and practical assessments will be carried out in our on site salon, Botanica.

All assessments will be measured against the nationally recognised standards of the awarding body, City and Guilds.

You may also be asked to carry out case studies and research work at home.

Our highly professional and experienced salon teaching team will help and support you every step of the way.

With industry experience under their belts to ensure your learning experience is packed full of the latest trends and techniques, the team adapt their teaching style to suit each student, making your time with us as personal and enjoyable as possible.

We work with a wide range of professional hair companies and brands, such as Milk Shake, to give you the up to date product knowledge and skills requested by today’s employers.

All practical sessions will take place in our commercial, industry standard salon Botanica which is equiped with customer reception, two hair salons, dedicated barbering and make-up space, nail bars and beuaty suites.

You will also be invited to buy a salon uniform to wear throughout the course.

  • We’re a part of the Green Salon Collective, a company that offer Zero-to-Landfill Salon Recycling Solutions for Hairdressers.
  • Our hair, foils and metal tubes are recycled.
  • We use eco-heads, shower heads that reduce water use by around 70%.
  • Our beauty supplier is Eve Taylor and for every product we buy, they plant a tree.
  • We don’t print our learning portfolios, they’re all online.
  • We use the Wella Hero platform, which helps the students gain knowledge on all aspects education in the hair industry including sustainable salon operations.

When you finish this course, you can either step into an juinor role with in a hair or beauty salon, or progress to one of our level 2 courses.

There will be an additional cost for a hairdressing kit whcih you’ll use throughout the course and a salon uniform.

We’ll let you know the cost of these when you enrol.

Most people aged 19 years and over can qualify for free course fees and there are grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances.

If you don’t qualify for funding help and have to pay for course, you could pay a 25% deposit and four consecutive monthly standing order payments for the balance. The course fee must be over £100 to qualify.

If this is a Level 3 qualification and you may qualify for free course fees and there may be grants and bursaries you can apply for to help cover the costs of coming to college, depending on your circumstances. If you already have a full level 3 qualification and are aged 19 or over you can pay the fee in full upfront and receive a 10% discount. Or you can apply for an Adult Advanced Learner Loan, a low interest loan with no upfront fees that you pay back in installments once you’re earning.
